Meet Diego Larguia, the newly elected 2024 LWS Director at Large for the Southshore. A self-described paintaholic, Diego considers himself an Academic painter and is indeed a multifaceted artist and teacher. Working in both watercolor and oils, he has exhibited his work in galleries and museums and has completed many commissions, most of architectural motifs such as people’s homes and historic buildings. He has painted for 30 or more years and taught art for over 20 years, including at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts, The Ogden Museum, The Beauregard Keyes House, and the New Orleans School of Arts and Crafts. His works have been featured in American Artist magazine and several other art publications.-
Diego’s primary subject matter is nature and urban landscape. He usually stumbles on his subject matter and highly values the benefits of drawing from direct observation. Although he enjoys the work of numerous master artists, his absolute hero is John Singer Sargent. More of Diego’s work can be seen at www.diegolarguia.com. Diego considers it an honor to be a member of the LWS Board.
