Don Reggio a New Orleans native, was the only student apprentice of Robert M. Rucker (1932-2001), a regional painter of Louisiana. While studying with Rucker, he completed a B.A. in Fine Art from LSUNO. Working in oil, watercolor, egg tempera and multi-media Reggio is known for capturing uniquely Southern and Louisiana experiences such as his classic portraits of Louisiana Live Oaks and landscapes, unique traditions such as New Orleans jazz funerals, and historic recreations of 19th C steamboats in their environment.
Reggio has been a member of the Louisiana Watercolor Society since his 20’s and is a member of the American Society of Marine Artists. Don has taught drawing, watercolor and oil painting at an art school and at several adult education classes in universities. Over his career he has exhibited in festivals, gallery shows and one man shows. His works are in numerous private collections. Reggio is represented by Gallery 600 Julia in the Arts District, New Orleans.
