Rita has always loved art and been an artist in her mind but never had the opportunity to take classes until she was in her fifties. She loved it, but life kept getting in the way. Rita took classes with Laura Mitchell many years later and got the proper foundation and the confidence to paint on her own.
Rita paints almost exclusively from her photo collection of landscapes, animals, seascapes, flowers, birds, and photos from her travels. Rita’s most recent attempts have been portraits, mostly of her grandchildren when they were little, and animals.
Rita states “I am so fortunate to have been invited to join the board. It has been a wonderful opportunity to get to know and learn from some very amazing artists and friends.” Rita serves as the Corresponding Secretary.
