The Information We Collect

This notice applies to all information collected or submitted on the Louisiana Watercolor Society website. On some pages, you can submit a new membership application, renew an existing membership, register for a workshop, make a donation or enter an exhibit. The types of personal information collected at these pages are: Name, Address, Email address, Phone number, Web site. Credit/Debit Card Information is handled by Paypal or Stripe, and is not collected by the Louisiana Watercolor Society.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Cookies

Who we share your data with

We use the information you provide about yourself when placing or renewing a membership or placing a workshop or exhibit registration only to complete that transaction. We do not share this information with outside parties without your permission.

We use return email addresses to answer the emails we receive and to occasionally send information or notices that we deem to be of interest to members of the Louisiana Watercolor
Society. Such addresses are not used for any other purpose and are not shared with outside parties without your permission. In addition we also collect information on your IP address, browser type, and Refer URL data. We use this data to prevent hacking attempts, help us know what web browsers people are using, and find out where our visitors are coming from so that we can improve our marketing.

Finally, we never use or share the personally identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
